Temporary changes to Landsbankinn’s services

Landsbankinn has decided to make temporary changes to opening hours in certain of its branches in rural Iceland. In Reykjavík, the Vesturbær branch will be closed temporarily but ATMs in the branch will continue to be available around the clock.

These changes become effective as of tomorrow morning, 18 March 2020. Shorter opening hours apply to the following branches, which will be open from 10-15 instead of 9-16.

Opening hours of branches in the capital area, other than the Vesturbær branch, which closes temporarily, are unchanged.

With shorter opening hours, employees will work in two shifts, leading to longer processing times. The aim of these changes is to reduce the risk that the spread of Covid-19 will drastically affect customer service and to ensure business continuity. Closure of the Vesturbær branch in Reykjavík allows for more time to respond to queries communicated via email, messenger and telephone, which have multiplied recently.

Utilise digital service solutions when possible

Due to the outbreak of Covid-19, we ask that customers utilise the Bank’s digital services rather than visit branches whenever possible. In most cases, there is no need to visit a bank branch to receive banking service, as most main transactions and various services can be accessed using mobile phones or a computer.

Distance of two metres

In accordance with instructions from the Chief Epidemiologist we ask that customers maintain a distance of two metres between individuals when visiting the Bank’s branches.

Landsbankinn offers various solutions to individuals who expect to have difficulties making payment due to unexpected circumstances, such as unemployment or illness, including the option to apply for deferment of instalments on housing loans. Various solutions are also available to companies who bank with Landsbankinn and experience temporary difficulties.
