Landsbankinn receives equal pay certification
Landsbankinn has received equal pay certification which confirms that its remuneration system complies with the Equal Pay Standard ÍST 85:2012. The key aim of the equal pay certification is to counteract a sex-based wage gap and boost equality of the sexes in the labour market.
Implementation of an equal pay standard at Landsbankinn in fact means that the Bank has enacted a control system which ensures that handling and decisions about wages is based on objective factors, free of gender-based discrimination.
Equal pay certification became a legal requirement in June 2017 and Landsbankinn worked to achieve certification in 2018. Final review of Landsbankinn took place in January 2019 and was carried out by BSI in Iceland, a professional certification body. The Bank has now been certified under the Standard.
Baldur G. Jónsson, HR Manager:
“Landsbankinn has over many years made a point of ensuring that men and women receive equal pay for equally valuable work and enjoy the same job opportunities. Landsbankinn has twice been awarded the golden seal of PwC's Equal Pay Audit and became a member of Capacent’s Equality Indicator last year. It is gratifying for the Bank to receive the legally required equal pay certification as it validates the good work that the Bank has already undertaken to ensure equal pay.”
