Arinbjörn Ólafsson appointed Managing Director of IT at Landsbankinn

Arinbjörn Ólafsson has been appointed Managing Director of IT at Landsbankinn effective immediately. A total of 45 applications were received.

Arinbjörn Ólafsson completed a MSc degree in industrial engineering from the University of Iceland in 2000 and a PhD in the same field from the University of Wisconsin in USA in 2006. He started working in the Securities and Treasury division at Landsbankinn in 2006. Between 2009 and 2015, he worked in financial restructuring of companies and managed the recalculation of exchange rate indexed loans. Arinbjörn has held a managerial position within IT at Landsbankinn since 2015.

Lilja Björk Einarsdóttir, CEO of Landsbankinn: "Arinbjörn has comprehensive knowledge of banking, and the operations of computer and IT systems as well as experience of managing large and complex projects. Landsbankinn places strong emphasis on digital technology and Arinbjörn's experience will be an asset to the bank, particularly in the development of digital banking."

Landsbankinn's IT division employs approx. 170 people. The division is responsible for the maintenance and development of the bank's computer and IT systems, and supports the development of digital technology within the bank.

Financial results of Landsbankinn in H1 of 2020

Landsbankinn's after-tax performance was negative by ISK 3.3 billion during the first half of 2020, compared with a profit of ISK 11.1 billion during the same period in 2019. Loan impairment amounted to ISK 13.4 billion during the period, equal to about 1.1% of the bank‘s loan portfolio, compared with an impairment of ISK 2.4 billion in the same period last year.

Financial results of Landsbankinn for the first three months of 2020

In the first three months of 2020, Landsbankinn's after-tax results were negative by ISK 3.6 billion, compared with an ISK 6.8 billion profit for the same period in 2019. Loan impairment amounted to ISK 5.2 billion in the period, compared with impairment of ISK 1 billion in the same period last year.
